Crafting a Natural Dye Garden + Bundle Dye Workshop with Emily Waneous

In this hands-on workshop, students will learn the foundational steps to growing their own dye garden at home, including choosing the right plants, caring for them, harvesting and storing for future use, and color extraction!

Students will be led into a bundle dyeing activity using the plants introduced in the workshop. Bundle dyeing involves arranging dye flowers and plants directly onto fabric, then bundling the fabric and allowing it to set into the fiber over steam. The result is a vibrant, abstract, one-of-a-kind piece, as the fabric absorbs the colors and prints from the dye plants.

Each participant will receive one handkerchief and one scarf to bundle dye, along with seeds to take home to start their own garden!
